Jio Payments is rolling out a cool new payment solution called the Jio Soundbox, as reported by The Hindu Business Line. This device verifies payments with sound alerts, much like what you see with Paytm or PhonePe. This move shows that Jio Payments is serious about expanding its payment options, which already include things like payment gateways and UPI platforms.
They’ve been testing the Jio Soundbox in smaller cities like Jaipur and Lucknow, and if all goes well, you’ll soon spot them in bigger cities too. Plus, these soundboxes might even work as a point-of-sale device for merchants using QR codes. Look out for it by the end of 2024.
Just like other similar products, you’ll likely pay an upfront fee and then a monthly subscription to use the Jio Soundbox. While we don’t know the exact prices yet, it’s expected to be in line with what competitors like PhonePe charge. And when you get one, it’ll be handy not just for payments, but also for handling QR code transactions, which means more convenience for businesses.
